Blimps were a common site at College Park's airshows. Here, the Wonderbread Blimp flies over a hangar and the balloon tower which housed a World War One-era hot air balloon used for weather reports.

A historical marker was erected by Prince George's County Historical Society in 1976. It lists some of the historic events which have taken place at the airport since 1909.
