In 1911, the army built seven hangars, a water tower and set up several mess tents for the Army Aviation School. The school operated out of College Park until 1913.
At one College Park's frequent air shows, aero acrobat, Vincent "Squeak" Burnett performs the 'square loop maneuver' during which he turns the plane upside down.
Blimps were a common site at College Park's airshows. Here, the Wonderbread Blimp flies over a hangar and the balloon tower which housed a World War One-era hot air balloon used for weather reports.
